Wayward Vegan Cafe Seattle

In mid September, we visited Seattle for only a day (or less), because we are flying from SEA (Seattle–Tacoma International Airport) and here I am, in Phuket, Thailand (earlier I was in Manila, Philippines).

It was very nice to see Seattle again. The September weather was beautiful and calming in Seattle. This was my second time at Wayward Vegan Cafe. I went there for breakfast about two years ago. Their breakfast-lunch menu (9am-4pm) was better than their dinner menu (4pm-9pm). We went there for dinner after 4pm, and I wished I had their breakfast dishes.

We stayed at the Westin, whereas we had the incredible view of Seattle.

Monte Cristo
It is Wayward Vegan Cafe’s classic breakfast sandwich: two slices of French toast with grilled turkey and ham, sprinkled with powdered sugar and served with hasbrowns and a side of jam. It was Doni’s dish. The dish was average, the dish was mostly sweet due to the jam and french toast. It’s great for anyone who likes sweets for dinner, but not for one who wish to have something savoury for dinner. It was a filling meal, but a bit too sweet for him.

Fried Chicken & Waffles
This dish consists of a Belgian-style, whole-wheat blend waffle paired with two of Wayward Vegan Cafe’s signature fried chiggen pieces and baked cauliflower mac’n’cheese, served with vegan butter and maple syrup. I was looking forward to their vegan baked cauliflower mac’n’cheese, unfortunately it was a small portion of vegan cheesy cauliflower dish. That dish would be a great gluten-free option. The whole-wheat blend waffle was good, but I was hoping it to be savoury. Wayward Vegan Cafe makes such good fried chiggen pieces. I would love to know their recipe. Kudos for their fried chiggen pieces.

Vegan Stroganoff
This is our first time to try a vegan stroganoff at a 100% vegan restaurant. The dish contains creamy mushroom stroganoff over orzo pasta and served with grilled aspagarus and garlic bread. The dish didn’t wow us. I think their hearty breakfast selections wow-ed us last time, with their amazing potatoes, country fried steak, omelet, and biscuits.

Next time, we will just go to Wayward Vegan Cafe for breakfast (from 9am-4pm) instead of dinner since there aren’t many great selections.
